You will embark on a typical – but very safe – Amazonian boat and after a nice boat trip you will arrive at the lodge with its cozy bungalows.

Some of the bungalows overlook the river and others have a view to the forest. The lodge also offers a restaurant and a pool. You will be welcomed with refreshments of seasonal fruits and you can check in to your bungalow and have lunch.

After lunch you will have a guided walk in the jungle. You will see tropical trees, medicinal plants and the exuberant nature of the jungle near the lodge. From a high viewpoint, toucans, macaws and other birds can be seen.

You will also visit a reproduction of a shiringuero encampment, in which you can see the process of collecting rubber and how it is used for many products.

Returning from the walk, you can enjoy the swimming pool or have a delicious cocktail at the bar.
Before dinner, you can go for a nocturnal boat trip on a caiman safari to observe these animals and other type of animals which populate the riverbank at night.

Day 2: Lake Sandoval and visit to lookout tower and Brazil nut camp

You will be woken up early with a cup of tea or coffee. A packed breakfast will be handed out and you go by boat direction Lake Sandoval. After 20 minutes you will continue by foot. During a 3 km hike through the wild vegetation, you will enter the territory of Tambopata National Reserve. You will have the chance to admire giant trees, different snakes, monkeys (squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys and capuchin monkeys) and various birds (notably the Hoatzin – also known as the stink bird-, kingfishers and snakebirds).

On Lake Sandoval, we will embark in small rowboats. You will be able to spot giant river otters and a good number of other reptiles, mammals and birds in their natural habitat. The guide will look here for a good spot to have breakfast. Then it is time to return to the lodge.

After lunch you will go to visit a lookout tower, It is designed for bird watching and to view other types of animals living at this altitude in the canopy. In addition, you will enjoy an incredible view of the sunset.

Also you will visit a Brazil nut camp this afternoon. The production of the Brazil nut (also known as castaña, as it is known locally) is one of the most important economic activities in the Madre de Dios region.

When you return to the lodge there is some time to relax before you will go for dinner.

Day 3: Parrots clay lick and visit of local market

Very early in the morning you will go for a short walk to the parrots clay lick. At this place you will observe different type of parrots who ingest a particular kind of clay. This clay can only be found in certain areas of this region. The clay is vital for the metabolic regulation of the birds, so you will witness a very unique, colorful and exciting event.

After breakfast, you will return to the city of Puerto Maldonado by boat. Here we will take a car and go to the local market where the local population supplies itself with foods and other products. During a short visit you will be able to see the different typical products of the area.
