Amazon Tours 4 Days
Four days to get a complete understanding, of the Amazon forest, the Sandoval Lake and the River “Madre de Dios” but also to meet native families of the local Amazon community. During these four days you will stay in a comfortable lodge on the banks of the River “Madre de Dios.”

During a short stop in the city you will be able to see the confluence of the rivers Madre de Dios and Tambopata with its impressive transoceanic highway bridge. Some of the bungalows overlook the river and others have a view to the forest. The lodge also offers a restaurant and a pool. You will be welcomed with refreshments of seasonal fruits and you can check in to your bungalow and have lunch.
After lunch you will have a guided walk in the jungle. You will see tropical trees, medicinal plants and the exuberant nature of the jungle near the lodge. From a high viewpoint, toucans, macaws and other birds can be seen.
You will also visit a reproduction of a shiringuero encampment, in which you can see the process of collecting rubber and how it is used for many products.
Returning from the walk, you can enjoy the swimming pool or have a delicious cocktail at the bar.
Before dinner, you can go for a nocturnal boat trip on a caiman safari to observe these animals and other type of animals which populate the riverbank at night.

After breakfast you will go by boat to a chakra, a farm owned by a local family. They maintain and grow some native plants that grow naturally in the area without the use of chemicals. They sell their products in Puerto Maldonado for consumption. Here you have the chance to try different seasonal fruits and native products.
After the farm visit we continue by boat to visit the Machiguenga, one of the many ethnic groups living in the Peruvian Amazon. A family will show us the cultural value of their ancestors, as well as language and customs, including traditional clothes, hunting gear, handicrafts and the music they play during ayahuasca ceremonies. And they will demonstrate how they take advantage of natural products to make tools, how they build their houses, make dresses and ornaments, each important for their daily life.
You will share a lunch with the Machiguenga family, enjoying an indigenous dish from the jungle.
The rest of the day you will be free to enjoy the facilities of the lodge.
