South Valley Tour: Tipon, Pikillacta and Andahuaylillas
Guided tour during the morning (English and Spanish) in a group with convenient transportation. This tour takes the visitors to the great archaeological complex of Tipon (dedicated to water), to the city of the Wari culture “Piquillacta” (Pre-Inca) and to the unique baroque church of Andahuaylillas with its magnificent baroque frescoes.
This valley is located at the South of Cusco (in direction to Puno and Arequipa), at an altitude of 3200 meters a.s.l. (10.490 ft.). This tour combines beautiful natural landscapes with a unique and beautiful Incan architecture monument dedicated to water by the name Tipon (centuries XV-XVI).
A little further the group will reach Piquillacta, a big archeological site from the Wari civilization, who preceded the Incas (centuries VIII to XI).
At the furthest point of the tour the participants will visit the beautiful and unique baroque church, which is situated in the idyllic village of Andahuaylillas. This Jesuit church is known as the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas” (XVII century) and its walls are decorated with beautiful frescoes from indigenous painters.
